How can I book a tour?

There’s a ‘Book Now’ button at top right corner of every tour page. Click on that to fill in the necessary details and pay for the tour. You’ll receive a confirmation email shortly after you submit payment. Next step? See you on the tour!

How do I book a Bespoke Experience?

Just like with our other tours, you’ll find a ‘Book Now’ button at top right corner of every Bespoke Experience page. Click on that to fill in the necessary details and submit the booking form. We will confirm availability and email you within 24 hours (Mon – Fri) with a quote, which is valid for 72 hours. Once you accept the quote and submit payment, we’ll send you a confirmation email with the details of your tour. Next step? Get ready for a unique, unforgettable experience!

Why is this booking process not the same as it is for our standard tours? Unlike our other tours, Bespoke Experiences are one-of-a-kind experiences with extremely limited availability. We have negotiated exclusive access for DGC guests, but each Experience needs to be individually confirmed — just for you!

What if I’m traveling alone?

Not a problem! All our tours can be booked as One-on-One tours, and our Field Experts (licensed archaeologists) and Tour Guides will provide you with plenty of conversation and information throughout the tour.

Are there age restrictions on DGC’s tours?

Our tours are open to people of all ages, but minors (under 18 years of age) need to be accompanied by an adult.

If you’re travelling with very young children, and need to confirm suitability or make special arrangements, just send us an email or give us a call to speak to a member of our team. We’ll help you book the perfect tour for the whole family.

Can you accommodate my special dietary requirements?

Of course! We can cater for most dietary requirements—including food intolerances and vegetarian and vegan diets. Just let us know at the time of booking, and we’ll pass your request on to the restaurant(s) where you’ll be dining.

If you have severe allergies, please make sure to let us know ahead of time.

What if I request a service that’s not included in the available tours?

We pride ourselves on providing unique, tailor-made tours, and we’re happy to offer additional services where possible. Do you have frequent traveler discounts?

Absolutely! We love it when people return to take more of our tours. In fact, if you’ve booked with us in the past and are planning to book another DGC tour, let us know at the time of booking. We’ll welcome you back with a special discount!

Can I book flights or ferry tickets through DGC?

At present, we do not provide booking services for long-distance air, land, or sea travel—domestic or international.

If your tour covers multiple destinations or takes place outside of Athens, the necessary transfers are included in the tour price. Check your tour’s Details section for more information.

What about booking confirmation? When is my tour guaranteed?

Your tour is guaranteed as soon as payment is received in full—at the time of booking or within the specified period, depending on the type of tour. You will receive email confirmation verifying this.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can use a credit or debit cards (MasterCard, Visa, Maestro) or PayPal.

Can I get an extension on my payment?

Payment for our Bespoke Experiences and Tailor-Made Tours is due in full no later than 72 hours from acceptance of the quote. For Half Day and Full Day Tours, payment must be completed at the time of booking. Bookings that are not paid in full within the specified timeframe are automatically cancelled.

What if I can’t make it to a tour I’ve already booked?

If you have already booked a tour but are unable to participate, you have three options:

  • You can transfer the reservation/booking to another suitable person/party.
  • You can change your booking to a different date—without penalty, provided that you inform us at least five (5) business days in advance of the scheduled tour date.
  • You can cancel the booking.

What are the cancellation fees?

All cancellations are subject to a cancellation fee. The charges are as follows:

For cancellations up to 21 days prior to the scheduled tour date: €40 per person (handling fee)

For cancellations 20 – 14 days prior to the scheduled tour date: 50% of total tour cost forfeited

For cancellations 13 days or less prior to the scheduled tour date: 100% of the total tour cost forfeited

What are the terms and conditions for joining your tours?

Do I get any free time?

We want you to explore at your own pace, and we make sure you have the room to do so. We have prepared fantastic itineraries, and our Field Experts are wonderful, knowledgeable hosts who can provide a wide range of options to get you started exploring.

Are the tours physically demanding?

All of our tours are manageable for those with a moderate level of physical ability, but do keep in mind that the terrain in Greece is often hilly—in the countryside and in the city center alike. If you have limited mobility or need assistance, get in touch and let us know in advance. We can provide accessibility information on the various sites and locations, and we’ll do our best to find a solution to suit your needs.

What is included in the tour price?

Our tours have no hidden costs—what you see is what you get. This means that everything that is listed on the itinerary is included in the price, including but not limited to: entrance fees to sites and museums, meals and refreshments (see the Tour Details sections for specifics), and transfers where necessary.

Tour prices do not include: spending money, visas, personal travel insurance, medical fees, cost of optional activities and excursions, flights, departure taxes, and any meals or beverages that are not specified in the Itinerary and Details sections of the tours.

Are airport/port transfers or transfers to/from the meeting point included in the price of the tours?

Transfers are not included in the prices of our tours, but we’re happy to arrange private transfers for you upon request. Airport/port transfers cost €35 – €115 and local transfers to/from the meeting point cost €30 – €65, depending on the number of passengers (2–14).

If you would like to book transfers through DGC, we can arrange private transfers in a luxury vehicle with a reliable driver. All vehicles are air-conditioned, and all drivers speak Greek and English.

What will the food be like on my tour?

Delicious! Food is one of the first things that come to mind when you think of Greece, and we know how much travelers appreciate good food. We’ve chosen some of our favorite restaurants (and caterers) and have carefully selected some of our favorite traditional Greek recipes. You’ll probably recognize some familiar dishes, but you’ll also get the chance to experience interesting new flavors.

And don’t forget that our itineraries our flexible: Depending on the tour, you’ll get the chance to make your own meal arrangements. Our Field Experts are there to help and can offer recommendations for great local restaurants of all sorts and types. What better way to explore and truly discover Greek culture!

When will I get more information about my tour?

You will receive a full info-pack along with your confirmation email, shortly after you complete payment for your tour. The info-pack (PDF) includes a detailed itinerary, maps, and useful destination info and trivia about Greece.

What time does my tour start? What time should I be at the meeting point?

The starting time for each tour is specified in the Details section for that tour. Make sure you’re at the meeting point 15’ before the tour is scheduled to start. And don’t worry about being too early—our Field Experts arrive at the meeting point a full 30’ ahead of time, so they’ll be there to greet you.

Who will accompany me for the duration of the tour?

It’s not always possible to tell you before the tour who your Field Expert will be, but we can most certainly tell you that each and every one of them is outstanding!

All our Field Experts have academic backgrounds and professional experience in key areas like Hellenic studies, archaeology, architecture, and the arts. They’re wonderful hosts and love to share their knowledge and help travelers from all over the world discover Greek culture.

Do I need vaccinations?

No vaccinations are required to enter Greece, but it’s always best to be up-to-date on routine vaccinations when traveling abroad. If you take any kind of medication, make sure to bring an adequate supply (in the original packaging) along with relevant documentation if applicable.

You must advise us of any existing medical condition(s) that you have at the time of booking (or such that develop after the booking has been confirmed) that may affect your tour or may require urgent medical attention.

Do I need a passport and travel visas?

Depending on your nationality, you may need a visa to enter Greece (you can check this here). This can sometimes be a lengthy process, so make sure to allow up to four weeks prior to your trip to obtain the visa.

How much money should I bring?

All entrance fees and some meals and/or refreshments are included in the price of your tour (see the tour’s Details section for specifics), but we recommend that you bring enough cash to cover any extras—souvenirs, additional drinks, a taxi back to your hotel, or maybe even an evening out if the mood strikes.

Keep in mind that most transactions in Greece are made in cash, so make sure you have enough Euros in hand. Credit and debit cards are widely—but not universally—accepted at most major stores (shopping centers, larger retailers, supermarkets) and restaurants, so it’s always best to ask on the premises before making a purchase. There are plenty of ATMs around town, so you will also be able to withdraw additional funds if you need to.

Do the Field Experts speak English?

Of course! All our Field Experts are fluent in English, and most can speak other languages as well!

Can I opt out of certain activities or only do part of the tour that I have already booked?

Yes. It’s up to you whether you want to sit out certain activities or even just participate in part of the tour. However, keep in mind that you will not be reimbursed for any portion(s) of the tour that you decide to opt out of.

If you know before the tour starts that you want to opt out of certain activities, let us know as soon as possible. We’ll pass the information on to our Field Experts, who will do their best to accommodate your requirements.

Can I make any changes to the itinerary of my tour, either before or during the tour?

Our Half Day and Full Day tours have set itineraries, and we cannot make any individual changes, so please make sure that you’re happy with the itinerary before you book a tour.

What if I arrive late and miss part of the tour?

Before the day of the tour: If you know in advance that you will be arriving late, let us know as soon as possible by sending us an email or giving us a call to speak to a member of our team.

On the day of the tour: If you’re running late due to unforeseen circumstances—it can happen, we know—call us as soon as possible on +30 211 21 53 58. Unfortunately, we cannot reimburse you for any portion(s) of the tour unused
